CARDIFF ANIMATION NIGHTS AND BAFTA CYMRU PRESENT

40 YEARS OF AARDMAN WITH PETER LORD

Bristol-based animation powerhouse Aardman have been delighting families all over the world for forty years. Their early work saw them create the popular Morph for the much-loved Tony Hart programmes before providing the animation for the groundbreaking video of Peter Gabriel’s ‘Sledgehammer’ - still one of the best known music videos of the 1980s.

The arrival of Nick Park in the late 80s saw Aardman go from strength to strength with ‘Creature Comforts’ proving popular with a wide audience but it was Park’s ‘A Grand Day Out’, introducing Wallace and Gromit to an enchanted public, which cemented them as family favourites. Further Wallace and Gromit shorts followed with ‘The Wrong Trousers’ and ‘A Close Shave’ both winning Academy Awards.

Aardman’s venture into feature production has been no less successful - their films, including ‘The Curse of the Were-Rabbit’, ‘Chicken Run’ and ‘Shaun the Sheep’ have taken almost a

billion dollars at the box office.

Join Aardman co-founder and creative director Peter Lord as he shares the secrets of their success in a talk that will fascinate young and old alike.
