BARRY PURVES

Barry has been involved with the arts for almost 45 years, mainly in animation and theatre. He has directed nearly 300 episodes of children’s series, including ‘Wind in the Willows’, ‘Toby’s Travelling Circus’, ‘Rupert Bear’ and was recently an animation director of ‘Twirlywoos’. His own darker films, including Next, Screen Play, Achilles and Tchaikovsky – an elegy, have won many awards around the world, notably Oscar and BAFTA nominations. Barry also teaches and writes books about animation, and is currently in post production for a new film for the BFI.
