Cardiff Animation Nights (CAN) is a non-profit organisation running animation events in Cardiff, from screenings of award-winning independent animation, to festival programmes, workshops, talks and masterclasses.
CAN began in October 2014 with free bimonthly screening events, bringing our favourite animated short films from around the world to audiences in Cardiff. Since then, as well as running our bimonthly events, we have established a dedicated animation strand at Cardiff Independent Film Festival, curating a sell-out programme of masterclasses, talks and screenings, and we have teamed up with the University of South Wales to bring some of the best of British animation to Cardiff through the British Animation Awards public choice screenings. To date we have screened over 300 animated films (from 37 different countries, across 6 different continents) at venues in Cardiff. Check out our past events here.
We have big plans for 2018, including launching a brand new Cardiff Animation Festival in April 2018. For updates, sign up to our mailing list. Cardiff Animation Nights' regular events continue to run once every two months, on a Thursday night at Kongs, Cardiff. Find our upcoming event dates here.
CAN is run by Lauren Orme, Christopher Wright, Dani Abram, Chris James, Laura Tofarides, Telor Gwyn and Adam Bailey, with help and support from numerous individuals and organisations from the animation community in Cardiff and further afield. Cardiff Animation Nights is supported by Cloth Cat Animation and by donations from our audiences.
Cardiff Animation Nights is run entirely by volunteers, and wherever possible we try and keep all of our events free. If you want to support what we do and help us to continue, you can make a one-off or regular donation via PayPal by clicking Donate below. If you think you could help us with CAN and/or the upcoming Cardiff Animation Festival and want to talk to us about becoming a volunteer, get in touch - we'd love to hear from you.
