Meet the CAF jury, who chose the winners of Best Short Film, Best Student Short Film and Best Micro Short Film.

Tom C J Brown is a British Artist and Filmmaker, primarily known for his short films “t.o.m.” (2007), teeth (2015), “Cousin John - The Arrival” (2020), and "Christopher at Sea" (2022) which have collectively won over 50 awards at festivals around the world including Sundance, SXSW, Outfest, Annecy, and BIFA nominated. Brown spent 11 years in New York working at Psyop in animation and film, before returning to the UK to take up residence in the Peak District. Now working at his boutique production company Temple Carrington & Brown, producing films and commercial content. Brown’s enthusiastic amateur Harping, rambling of English peaks, and love of Opera all feed into his work as a modern-day romanticist.


Maryam Mohajer is a British-Iranian, BAFTA Winning animator-director who was born in Tehran, Iran just before living through revolution, war and immigration. With a background in painting, she discovered animation after moving to UK in year 2000. She got her MA degree in animation from Royal college of art. Her short films have been screened at many International festivals. She lives and works as an animator, writer, director in London.


Alex is a motion designer, animation director, and founder of Don Dada Studios. South London born and raised, she experiments with music, motion and stories. Alex's skillset ranges from character animation/design, motion graphics and compositing. Graduating in 2013 from UCA she worked for various companies such as Disney before beginning her freelance journey in 2019. Her past and present clients range from TV, Theatre, corporations and charities.
