CISSI EFRAIMSSON
Cissi Efraimsson is a Swedish, Los Angeles-based director and stop-motion animator. She works across animation, painting, and ceramic sculpture, and is also the lead singer and drummer in her band, CISSI TV. Her stop-motion practice is tactile and detailed, often using clay and silicone to build immersive, handcrafted worlds.
Her work is colorful, fantastical, and infused with humor, drawing from mythological imagery while remaining grounded in contemporary life. Through satire and play, she creates spaces that exist on the border between the surreal and the everyday.
Her notable works include music videos for Viagra Boys, The Hives, and Upchuck, as well as her short films My Ex Boyfriend (2021) and Sea Angels (2024). Sea Angels premiered on Swedish national television and toured internationally on the festival circuit.
Efraimsson holds a BFA from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (2018) and an MFA from the Experimental Animation program at CalArts (2022). Prior to focusing on her solo practice, she toured and released several albums with bands including Those Dancing Days and Vulkano.
