CORDELIA HEBBLETHWAITE
Cordelia Hebblethwaite is Commissioning Editor for BBC Ideas, which has won at the Webby Awards six years in a row, including twice for Best Science and Education Channel. The strapline for the project is “short films for curious minds”.
BBC Ideas works with external partners, including The Open University, The Royal Society, the University of Oxford, and UKRI to commission engaging and informative videos - both film and animation - for a digital audience.
The films range from around 5 minutes in duration to 60 seconds. The team is increasingly focusing on YouTube and on short vertical video.
There is no requirement to have a previous BBC commission to work with BBC Ideas. The team frequently works with new and upcoming talent.
Cordelia has worked in a wide range of roles within the BBC - including as Digital Editor for Newsnight, as part of the launch team for BBC Trending, as a feature writer for the News website in Washington, and as a Planning Editor for World Service radio. She was a 2015 John S Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University.
