
LAUREN ORME​
​
Lauren is an award-winning animator and director based in Cardiff, South Wales. She directs and produces animation through her animation studio and production company Picl Animation.
​
Her animated short films have been screened at over 100 festivals around the world, and her Ffilm Cymru- and BFI Network-funded short Creepy Pasta Salad was shortlisted for the 2020 Best Short Animation BAFTA and nominated for Best Short Film at the 2020 BAFTA Cymru awards.

Lauren is Festival Director of Cardiff Animation Festival, an annual four-day celebration of animation for everyone, held at venues across Cardiff and online. She has been running events since 2014, when she founded Cardiff Animation Nights, popular bi-monthly screenings of award-winning independent animated films from around the world in Cardiff City Centre.

Lauren specializes in 2D digital and mixed media animation. She make animation for broadcast, documentaries, theatre and live performance, and animated short films, music videos, corporate videos and charity campaigns. Lauren has worked with clients and collaborators including Channel 4, ITN, BBC3, S4C, Twt Productions, Boom Cymru, Charlotte Church, Joanna Quinn, Wales Millennium Centre, The National Theatre, The Globe Theatre and Arts Council Wales.

Lauren has been a jury member for BAFTA, the British Animation Awards, Leeds International Film Festival and Manchester Animation Festival. She is a Trustee of Chapter Arts Centre, a founding member of the Alliance of British Animation Exhibitors (ABAE), and sat on the Advisory Panel for Anim18, a year-long UK-wide celebration of British Animation.

Lauren is also an experienced workshop leader, with 20 years' experience facilitating creative workshops for young people and adults.
