Artist, animator and musician Jessica Ashman (AKA Spirit Sigh) combines experimental animation techniques and live musical performance in ‘Dawta’. Accompanied on stage by artist and drummer Bimpe Alliu, ‘Dawta’ is an audio visual journey through ideas of inherited cycles of trauma in Blackness, inspired by a history of trans-racial fostering in Ashman's own family and the work of African American science fiction author Octavia Butler.  ‘Dawta' is a story of escaping the past through the imagining of an unknown future, the imagining of an unknown hope.

This screening of the video adaptation of Dawta will be followed by a Q+A with Jessica Ashman, hosted by Abigail Addison.

Mae’r artist, animeiddiwr a cherddor Jessica Ashman (AKA Spirit Sigh) yn cyfuno technegau animeiddio arbrofol a pherfformiad cerddorol byw yn ‘Dawta’. Yng nghwmni’r artist a’r drymiwr Bimpe Alliu, mae ‘Dawta’ yn daith glyweledol trwy syniadau am gylchredau etifeddol o drawma yn Blackness, wedi’i hysbrydoli gan hanes maethu traws-hiliol yn nheulu Ashman ei hun a gwaith yr awdur ffuglen wyddonol Affricanaidd-Americanaidd, Octavia Butler. Mae ‘Dawta’ yn stori am ddianc o’r gorffennol trwy ddychmygu dyfodol anhysbys, dychmygu gobaith anhysbys.

Dilynir y dangosiad hwn o'r addasiad fideo o Dawta gan sesiwn Holi ac Ateb gyda Jessica Ashman, a gynhelir gan Abigail Addison.
