Take a trip up north to the fictional town of Barnsworth, as Pip Williamson shares what it takes to create the most absurdly British game of recent years Thank Goodness You’re Here!
Pip started her career in Motion Design. She only later crossed the bridge into Animation after teaching herself to ‘actually draw’. She got to grips with frame by frame animation whilst freelancing. And it was an early collaboration with friends (James and Will of Coal Supper) that led her into the world of games. Together they created the BAFTA winning indie game ‘Thank Goodness You’re Here’. An ode to hand-drawn animation and good-old British humor.
During her talk, Pip will dive into her experience while creating the game. How did they force a film & TV animation pipeline into a game engine? What happens when you neglect sophisticated gameplay to instead prioritise voice acting and animation? Should this have been a film instead? All these questions will be answered by the Animation Team Lead of ‘Thank Goodness You’re Here!’

Daeth i ddeall animeiddio ffrâm wrth ffrâm wrth weithio’n llawrydd. Ac ar ôl cydweithio gyda’i ffrindiau (James a Will o Coal Supper), daeth hi i fyd y gemau. Gyda’i gilydd, fe greon nhw’r gêm annibynnol a enillodd wobr BAFTA ‘Thank Goodness You’re Here’, sy’n foliant i animeiddio llaw a hiwmor Prydeinig.
Yn ystod ei sgwrs, bydd Pip yn edrych ar ei phrofiad yn creu’r gêm. Sut wnaethon nhw orfodi piblinell animeiddio ffilm a theledu yn injan gêm? Beth sy’n digwydd pan fyddwch chi’n troi eich cefn ar gemau cymhleth ac yn blaenoriaethu lleisio ac animeiddio? Ai ffilm ddylai hi fod wedi bod? Bydd yr holl gwestiynau yma’n cael eu hateb gan Arweinydd Tîm Animeiddio ‘Thank Goodness You’re Here!’
