Gerald Conn is an award-winning filmmaker who has been animating with sand for over 30 years, grain by grain he has created beautiful animation using this intricate stop-motion technique.
His sand-on-glass films have been nominated for five BAFTA Cymru awards and won a BAFTA Cymru for Best Animation. In 2010, he established Gritty Realism Productions and is currently in pre-production on a feature film based on Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, the world’s first sand animated feature.
