VOLUNTEERING AT CARDIFF ANIMATION FESTIVAL

Cardiff Animation Festival is back for 2024!

Thanks so much for being interested in volunteering with us – without awesome people like you, there wouldn't be a Cardiff Animation Festival!

In 2022, we had three times as many applications as volunteers we could work with, so we can't work with everyone – we wish we could!

We'll get in touch by Monday 19th February 2024 to let you know either way.

You can apply for several different volunteer roles at Cardiff Animation Festival 2024:

Volunteer: Our volunteers have a bunch of important roles! You could be running mics for Q&As, sorting tickets for pass-holders, preparing for events in each cinema space, looking after guests, giving out feedback forms… the list is pretty endless. (But also endlessly fun.)

Volunteer Coordinator: Volunteer Coordinators have the same important roles as the volunteer, but will also oversee the timetable set by the Festival Manager. You’ll be ensuring all volunteers are where they need to be, and that each event is supported.

Social Media Volunteer: A vital and exciting role that will be overseen by the Marketing Manager & Festival Manager. You’ll be helping us to update our Instagram stories, livetweet events and chatting in our Discord server.

If you would like to volunteer with us, please fill in this form and we will be in touch. Remember to submit the form by 31st January 2024 if you want to volunteer during the festival.

FAQ

What does being a volunteer involve?

We’re seeking three different types of volunteer:

What’s in it for me?

As a thank-you for volunteering, you'll get free access to all CAF events whenever you're not on duty. You'll also get the opportunity to mingle with animation superstars and superfans. It's a great way to get to know people and get experience in events!

How much will I be working?

In our first meeting, you will fill out availability forms and let us know which days you can work. Each day will be split into morning and afternoon shifts.

Do I have to be able to attend the entire event?

No, you can attend as much or as little as you like! We will assign shifts, so whether you'd like to volunteer for the whole festival or just an afternoon – we'd love to hear from you!

Do I have to attend in person?

Yes. The festival will be taking place at Chapter Arts Centre and several venues across Cardiff City Centre.

Are the CAF24 venues accessible?

Our main festival hub, Chapter, is fully accessible. You can read more about their access on their website.

The rest of our venues are still pending confirmation – though we always try to work with accessible venues across Cardiff, we can't say for certain at this point what the situation will be. We will always take into consideration the accessibility needs of our volunteers when arranging meetings and assigning roles.

Do I need any qualifications?

No qualifications are needed except a passion for animation!

Do I need to be able to speak Welsh?

Nope.

Will I have to wear a uniform?

We will provide you with a snazzy CAF24 volunteer T-shirt so festival attendees can easily recognise you as part of the team.

When will I know if I've been chosen as a volunteer?

We will let everyone know by 19th February 2024. The first volunteer meeting will be in Cardiff in March.

If I can't commit to volunteering, how else can I help the festival?

You can always support the festival by sharing the events on social media and spreading the word! We do also have a Patreon, where you can support us from as little as £1 per month. Thanks for asking!
