See behind the scenes of The Breadwinner, the highly-anticipated new Oscar-nominated animated feature from Cartoon Saloon (Song of the Sea, The Secret of Kells).

Based on Deborah Ellis’ award-winning novel and executive produced by Angelina Jolie, The Breadwinner tells the extraordinary story of an 11-year-old Afghan girl, born into an ever-changing world of conflict and oppression, who finds strength in the love of her family and the power of storytelling. Unable to earn money as a girl, Parvana disguises herself as a boy to support her family when her father is taken away by the Taliban.

Mark Mullery, the technical director behind the Oscar-nominated film, will take us through how Cartoon Saloon constructed the gorgeous environments and world in which Parvana lives. Through scrupulous research and development missions, to the series of intricately woven paper cut-out story sequences, and the painstaking process of digital hand drawn animation, Mark will reveal the studio’s secrets!
