WELSH BAME ANIMATED SHORTS + Q+A

Cinema Golau presents an exciting new platform for emerging and established Welsh BAME filmmakers, starting with a vibrant archive animation programme premiering at Cardiff Animation Festival. 

 

Award-winning BAME Animators Kyle Legall, Tony Johnson and David Sethi will screen their films, and Kyle Legall will speak about his work.

The famous Jamaican nurse who tended to British soldiers in the Crimean War is the star of Kyle’s short Mary Seacole. Mary Seacole became a friend to the Queen, and more recently a statue was erected in her honour opposite the Houses of Parliament.

Tony Johnson's series Stonehouse Reunion chronicles Sugar Ray Robinson's brave escape from Stonehouse prison. Tony has gone down in animation history for being the only person of colour to release a feature-length animated film in the UK.
