BSL TRAILER TRANSCRIPT:

Hello! I’m here to let you know about Cardiff Animation Festival, which is coming to Chapter Thursday 23rd - Sunday 26th April and available online Thursday 23rd April - Monday 4th May. 

 

The festival will showcase a playful line-up of animated shorts, workshops, feature films, gaming insights & much more! 

 

There will be plenty of animated treats throughout the weekend to enjoy, with all short films and feature films captioned and talks and workshops BSL interpreted and live captioned, prices for each event range from £7-£9. 

 

We would like to invite you to spend the day with us on Saturday 25th April, the following events are suitable for Deaf BSL users: 

 

  • Award-winning sand animator Gerald Conn, will host a retrospective of his work as well as an interactive sand animation workshop. 

  • Julia Pott shares stories from her career directing animated shorts to creating Cartoon Network favourite Summer Camp Island.

  • Swedish game studio Moonhood will explain how they blended real world elements in a virtual space in stop-motion horror game The Midnight Walk.

VENUES

CHAPTER

​

Our main venue and festival hub is Chapter.


Chapter has flat access to the building through automatic doors and lift access to the first floor. All of their performance spaces are wheelchair accessible.

​

There are toilet facilities on the ground and first floors including all-gender toilets close to the café bar. There are toilets for disabled visitors on both the ground and the first floors. They also have a Changing Places Facility (providing sufficient space and equipment for people who are not able to use the toilet independently) on the ground floor close to the Café Bar.

​

Chapter has free parking at the rear of the building with six dedicated disabled parking spaces, and there are a further 3 disabled access spaces in the front car park. If you do not hold a Blue Badge please do not use these spaces.

​

If you need a wheelchair space for any of our events at Chapter, please let Chapter know by calling their Information Desk on 029 2031 1050 or emailing enquiry@chapter.org. You can book a free companion seat if you require one. For events in the cinema, there's also the option to book a wheelchair space and companion seat online.

​

Many of Chapter's Front of House and Café Bar staff are trained in beginners BSL and are currently moving to intermediate level.

KONGS (CARDIFF ANIMATION NIGHTS)

Kongs has steep steps to enter and is not wheelchair accessible. 

​

ARTHOLE 

Arthole has flat access and an accessible toilet on the ground floor.

​

THE CANOPI
The Canopi has flat access and an accessible toilet on the ground floor.​ 

​​

CORPORATION YARD

Corporation Yard has flat access.. Enter through the Corporation Yard entrance on Llandaff Road (not the Corp Market entrance on Cowbridge Road East).

Slizza has flat access, at the entrance at the front or to the garden on the side of the building.
