Family Events at CAF26!

It’s not long now until the next edition of Cardiff Animation Festival, #CAF26! Join us in-person across multiple venues in Cardiff 23 – 26 April and online 23 April – 4 May!

#CAF26 is a 4-day celebration of all things Animation, and there is plenty to do for all ages! Bring the family along for Baby-Friendly screenings, fun short films that adults and children can enjoy, and interactive workshops to entertain creative minds of all ages!✨

👶🏼 For Babies & Toddlers 🚼

For parents and carers of children under one – our Baby-friendly screening of Little Amelie or The Character of Rain has an adjusted cinema environment to make it as convenient and comfortable as possible, and no pressure if your baby needs to move, feed, or make noise.

For those with babies and toddlers – drop in to Pen Pals, our all-day collaborative animation activity – a chance to get meet fellow animation lovers, connect, and get creative with your child. Plus One Bum Cinema Club possibly the smallest cinema in the world, with just enough space - for you and your little one!

👧🏼 For Pre-School & Primary-Aged Children ✏️

For younger children full of curiosity and imagination, we have a range of films and hands-on activities to do together. Designed to be engaging, relaxed, and fun for kids and for their grown-ups.

Share a range of cinema experiences with your kids at CAF26 with a choice of feature films, old and new. The Pagemaster (U) offers nostalgic magic, while Little Amelie offers an enchanting tale about curiosity, courage, connection, and the power of chocolate!

We also have a specially designed shorts programme perfect for families and a chance to watch some short films in possibly the world's smallest cinema!

Alternatively, if your kids love getting stuck in rather than just watching, there are plenty of ways to make and explore at CAF through Model Making workshops and drop-in activities where you can ✏️ colour in animation frames, or 📖make your own flipbook!

🎬 For Tweens & Teens 🍿

Our short film programmes give older kids and teenagers a chance to see some of the best new independent animation being created around the world. They can also take part in Rainbow Road Rumble and play Mario Kart on the big screen!

Join us for Doodle Mural Workshops (where drawing on the walls is actively encouraged!), flip-book making workshops, and drop-in activities. Our sand animation sessions offer a chance to learn from one of the world's leading sand animators (who happens to be based in Cardiff!) and try it out for yourselves.

There are also opportunities to hear directly from artists and creators. Older teens (15+) can see behind the scenes of games, The Midnight Walk and Thank Goodness You’re Here! – and for lovers of Adventure Time and Summer Camp Island, we're delighted to welcome creatorJulia Pott, all the way from LA.
